Resawing the walnut at TXRX Labs

Around October 2–3, 2026, I took the walnut boards to TXRX Labs, the local makerspace, to resaw them on the bandsaw. I was aiming for pieces close to 5/8 inch thick.

It didn’t turn out the way I intended. The cut wandered, leaving uneven thickness instead of the pieces I was aiming for.

Later, I learned that a dull blade or my feed rate could have been the problem. The blade was relatively new, so I suspect my feed rate was the issue. That’s something I want to pay closer attention to the next time I resaw.
